SHS guidelines on containing the spread of Covid-19

The Student Union at Hanken School of Economics will take the authorities instructions regarding the spreading of covid-19 seriously and will take actions to adjust our events, activities and work in according with both the recommendations of Finnish authorities and Hanken School of Economics guidelines. The goal for all SHS actions is to counteract the spreading of covid-19 and protect our members’ and Student Union actives’ health.
The government has encouraged to cancel all public events with over 500 participants until the end of May. They also recommend that smaller events are cancelled and to avoid meeting in bigger groups. Everybody that has an opportunity to work from home are encouraged to do so and travelling abroad should be avoided.
Hanken has informed that all personnel and students in both Helsinki and Vaasa will work and study remotely from Friday 13th of March onwards. All lectures from the 16th of March will be given digitally (includes all contact with and guidance to students). This is until further notice.

SHS will follow the recommendations by the Finnish government its authorities and Hanken. Therefor, all of the Student Union public events scheduled for March 2020 will be cancelled with immediate effect. It is possible that events taking place after March might also be affected, information about this will be given separately. For the time being new events won’t be added or advertised, the Executive Board will give separate notice when this is possible again.
The Student Union closes its premises from 16th of March until Monday 30th of March, on the second week the board will evaluate the need to implement this measure for an extended time. All reservations to the facilities at Casa Academica will be cancelled for the period the Student Union is closed.
Employees of the Student Union and the Executive Board will be conducting its operations and meetings per distance, in line with the governments guidelines. The Executive Board advises that the same measures are implemented by its clubs and committees.
The Student Union recommends its members to avoid large crowd gatherings, where the contamination risk is larger and keep good hygiene, especially by regularly washing one’s hands. Remember to take care of yourself, your loved ones and their health, and support those who might be feeling stressed by the situation.
It’s important to keep a cool head and follow the instructions of the authorities, and to keep to verified news sources and avoid spreading rumors or disinformation. All the measures taken by SHS are in place until further notice and the Executive Board will give separate notice when the regulations are discontinued.
