  • Trip to Nuuksio National Park

    Time to enjoy weather and fall colors in the beautiful Nuuksio National Park together with SHS!We will depart from the Student Union at 3PM with a charter bus. We will arrive to Nuuksio about one hour later, where you can choose to walk by yourself or with someone from the Student Union. We will have some snacks for you but don’t come hungry and remember to stay hydrated, so bring your own water bottle with you!

    The bus will start its journey back to Helsinki at 7PM, so we will be back at the Student Union about 8PM. Remember to wear shoes that are comfortable for walking and waterproof/ windproof clothes.The registration link will be published 28.9.2020 at 12PM in the event. The event is free of charge!Please note that all participants attend this event at their own risk and you as a participant must consider whether you are comfortable attending a social event. Every participant also carries their own responsibility in minimizing the spread of COVID-19 virus.

    Please be aware and follow the safety precautions that will be taken during this event:
    – ALL participants are expected to wear a face mask during the bus rides. If you don’t own a face mask, SHS will provide you disposable face masks.
    – The number of participants is limited, and the registration to the event will take place through Google Forms.

    – It is possible to come to Nuuksio with own transport, please just inform sopo@shs.fiIf you are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19, such as fever, fatigue, diarrhea, or a runny nose or have been around someone that has tested positive for COVID-19 you may not attend the event.   • SHS x Kylli: Yoga & Breakfast

    Start your morning with Yoga & Breakfast, together with SHS and Kylli! We will start the morning with yoga on Tuesday 6.10 at 9AM, and after the yoga session breakfast will be served. The yoga will be easy and suitable for beginners, and held in English. When you register for the event you will get to choose between two different breakfast combo options (everything will be vegan)!

  • Bootcamp by Elixia!

    Elixia will arrange a bootcamp for Hanken students on Thursday 8.10 at 13:00-14:00. The bootcamp will be held in Elixia Töölö group training room (Arkadiankatu 23).

    The maximum amount of participiants is 15 students. The link for registration will be published in the event on Wednesday 30.9 at 12PM.   • Feel good- brunch!

    Come and take a break from studying with the Program committee!

    As a part of the SHS Wellness week, we want to invite all SHS students to a relaxing feel good-brunch! No special preparations needed, just come and enjoy the company and delicious snacks.

    During the brunch, SHS new concept of SupportStudents will be presented. We will also have a visit from author Michaela von Kügelgen, who will tell us a little bit about her new book, Nationen.The link to the sign-up will be posted in the event later on.

  • Pinktober Charity Run 2020

    To raise awareness and get together for a great cause, a charity run is organized by the SHS Sports Committee together with HankBoobie, the breast cancer fundraiser.

    The charity run will take place on Saturday the 10th of October and will this year be organized partly at distance, partly in Töölönlahti, Helsinki. The route around Töölönlahti is approximately 2 kilometers and you are free to jog or walk at your speed and for as many loops as you want.

    All the money raised at the charity run will go straight to the Roosa Nauha – association collecting funds for breast cancer research in Finland. By signing up for the event you are free to contribute to the fundraiser with any amount possible.

    All donations are important. If you want to, you can also challenge yourself to donate a certain amount per loops you run or walk.

  • Student Council October meeting

    Welcome to join the Student Council’s meeting October 21st at 5PM!

    The Student Council will make decisisions regarding to matters such as

    • Approval of the SHS Strategi
    • Approval of changes to SHS documents, including the working order of the Student Council

    As a member of the Student Union, you are entitled the right of presence to the Student Council’s meetings. Please email the Secretary General (gensek@shs.fi) how you wish to partake (virtually or physically).

    The Student Council will convene its second fall meeting, Wednesday October 21st starting at 5pm!

    Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, SHS closely follows the recommendations mandated by the government to reduce the spread of virus. Therefore this Student Council meeting will be held in a hybrid model, by participating virtually through the Microsoft Teams platform, or physically at the Auditorium Maxen at Hanken in Helsinki and V106 in Vaasa. These spaces have been chosen to ensure proper safety distances and access to proper hand hygiene.

    SHS Student Council ElectionsThe time has come to vote in the SHS (The Student Union’s) Student Council Elections. The election that has an impact on both your and in particular your student unions’s future. If you are an exchange student, consider this an investment in the future of other exchange students.

    SHS Student Council Elections take place on the 22.10 at 0.00 until 23.10 at 16.00, with pre-voting 17.10 at 00.00 – 21.10 at 23.59.All voting is done electronically through an individual link which each member of SHS (i.e. all bachelor& masters’ -students at Hanken) will receive.What does the Student Council do?

    The Student Council is the highest decision-making body of SHS consisting of 20 members. Among other things, the Council draws strategic guidelines, validates financial statements, and elects the Executive Board and other important union representatives (including the president of the Exchange Committee and Masters’ Committee).You can find the pamphlet here:

  • MC Hiking & BBQ in Uutela

    Looking to relax and get some fresh air after the first exam week? How does walking in the nature and warming up by the fire with friends sound? How about some crisp sea air and sausages grilled over an open fire?

    Join MC for a walk around the beautiful Uutela nature trail. After some urban hiking we will stop at an outdoor cooking shelter to eat some snacks and grill sausages.

    Uutela is a recreational area by the sea in Eastern Helsinki, just a quick 10-minute walk away from Vuosaari metro station. To make it even easier, we will meet at the metro station at 14:00 and walk together to Uutela.

    We will bring the barbeque equipment, utensils, ketchup and mustard but remember to bring your own sausages, veges or what ever you feel like eating.

    WHAT: An afternoon of urban hiking and barbequing
    WHERE: Uutela in Eastern Helsinki. You can meet us at Vuosaari metro station or join us later in Uutela
    WHEN: We meet at Vuosaari metro station at 14:00. If you want to join us later in Uutela, send a message to Rita to get the coordinates

    WHAT TO BRING: Warm, preferably waterproof clothes, good shoes for walking, something to sit on and something to barbeque

  • MC Halloween Movie Night

    What’s better than a cozy movie night? A cozy Halloween-themed movie night with friends at Femman!

    MC invites the fastest 15 master’s students to a fun Halloween-themed movie night at Casa’s 5th floor apartment Femman. We will get the movie, some soda and popcorn, so you can just sit down and enjoy. Feel free to dress up for Halloween or wear your sweatpants for maximum comfort.

    The doors will open at 19:00 and the movie starts as soon as we are ready, so please arrive on time. Further instructions about the entrance etc. will be shared in this event closer to the event.

    As we all know, choosing the movie takes forever, so we have narrowed the selection down to these seven, not-too-scary films:
