Company of the Week: SEB
Welcome to SEB’s Company of the Week! We will start this week with a short introduction
to us as a company, what we do and value in our business. Later this week you will hear
more about SEB and our opportunities for students.
SEB is a leading Nordic financial services group, founded in 1856 in Sweden. In Finland
we have been since 1984 and currently we are 280 colleagues working at our activity-
based office in Eteläesplanadi. In Finland our operations have a strong focus on corporate
and investment banking in addition to private banking and corporate card services. Our
customers are large corporates, institutional clients and private individuals. We offer a
wide range of services, but equally we are an advisor and sparring partner for both our
corporate and private customers.
We take responsibility for how we conduct our business and how we affect our customers,
employees, shareholders and society at large. As a corporate citizen we are committed to
support initiatives that contribute to a positive development of society within innovation,
environment, diversity and equality. Financial equality is an important topic for SEB and for
third year in a row, we have a global campaign that aims to support gender equality. To
contribute to greater gender equality, this year’s campaign “Open Opportunity” highlights
the issue of women’s ownership, savings, entrepreneurship and influence in business. We
believe that everyone should have an opportunity to save, invest, run a business and
develop in their career. You can read more about the Open Opportunity campaign here.
We believe that a sustainable society is economically beneficial for all our stakeholders as
well as for society at large. Banks are central for allocating society’s financial resources
and SEB wants to play an important role in the transition to a sustainable society. We have
aligned our business strategy with the Paris Agreement and the UN’s Sustainable
Development Goals. We believe we can make the greatest positive impact by partnering
with our customers and supporting them on their transition journeys. More about SEB’s
sustainability strategy here.
