The Finnish Swedish Heritage Day 6.11

Today, 6 November, we celebrate The Finnish Swedish Heritage Day. Finland is a bilingual country where both Finnish and Swedish are official languages, and The Finnish Swedish Heritage Day is a time for the Swedish speaking finns to strengthen their cultural and linguistic identity. It is also a day for the whole country to recognise and support Finland’s bilingual society. The Finnish Swedish Heritage Day is an opportunity for us to celebrate the diversity and Swedish speaking finn’s heritage in Finland.

The Swedish language carries with it traditions, values, and perspectives that have shaped our society and our identity. By cherishing the Swedish language, we preserve not only a means of communication but also a living culture. Swedish Day reminds us of the importance of continuing to strengthen and appreciate this unique bilingual heritage that enriches all of Finland.

The Swedish language is a prerequisite for Hanken’s existence. One of Hanken’s special tasks is to educate Swedish-speaking economists. SHS always raises the position of Swedish in all its partner organisations.
