Recruitment

The Business Committee is recruiting!

Hello all ambitious and creative Hankeites!

Do you want to be part of a motivated team of Hankeites and have the opportunity to influence the operations of the student union in a concrete and valuable way? Then the Business Committee (NU) might be something for you!

The Business Committee exists to support the board’s Head of Corporate Relations in developing and maintaining valuable connections between the student union and the corporate world. We organize several corporate events annually, secure sponsors for various projects and events, and ensure that Hankeites get notified about the most interesting job opportunities. Corporate relations also constitute one of the student union’s most important sources of income. In 2025, new projects are planned, including a new major career event and the development of both Stadirundan and the SHS Partner Program. In recent years, we have focused on strengthening collaboration with our partner organizations SSHV, KY, and MK, which will continue in the future.

We are now looking for dedicated individuals to join our team!

We hope you can commit for at least one year, i.e., all of 2025, after which you are welcome to continue if you have shown interest and engagement during the year. It is not required that you are in Finland, but an exchange semester may affect the tasks you can take on. NU is a great entry point into student union activities or for establishing close contact with interesting companies, making it suitable for both freshers and more senior students!

Below are some of the committee’s tasks. Note that NU 2025 will follow a new team structure, and these roles are not set in stone.

PR & Marketing

The PR team is responsible for NU’s social media, ensuring that everything looks professional and that companies’ brands are presented in a favourable way. PR’s task is also to make the committee visible within the student union and to ensure that Hankeites discover us and what we offer. Next year, the marketing team will also handle the acquisition and promotion of various student benefits for SHS members.

Sales and Account Management

Are you interested in being the link between the student union and companies, selling and negotiating agreements with them? Then you might be suited to be an Account Manager! Account Managers take care of their assigned partner companies, create new sales by negotiating larger agreements, and bring new companies into the portfolio. When your assigned company wants to organise an event, you ensure communication with PR and support the company with arrangements.

Project Teams

At the beginning of the year, members from both main teams will also be assigned to various projects. These include Career Kick-start (our new flagship event), sales for Vappen and Stadirundan, and the development of the Partner Program.

What will you gain from being part of NU?

You’ll get close contact with leading companies in the Finnish business world, practice essential communication skillsfor business life, learn about meeting culture, and develop skills in planning and executing events. Lastly, you’ll be part of a wonderful and dynamic community and collaborate with other student union members, both within SHS and externally!

How to apply?

Send your application to naringsliv@shs.fi no later than December 17, 2024. Write a short, freely formatted application explaining why you want to join NU, why you are a good candidate, and what kind of tasks interest you. Attach a photo of yourself and include your contact information (especially your phone number). If you have experience in sales, event organisation, or marketing, feel free to mention it. After your application, we will invite you to a casual interview, which we will start conducting during the application period.
