Apply for a grant from SESS!

The purpose of the Swedish Economics Students’ Foundation (SESS) is to be a unifying link for students at the Swedish School of Economics and to support students’ societal social, intellectual and study-related ambitions. The Foundation fulfills its purpose among other things, by awarding grants to students.

SESS prioritizes and encourages applications for purposes that promote several people or a public purpose over personal purposes. We also emphasize purposes that enhance the community among students at Hanken. On average, 500 euros are granted per purpose / per individual application. The Foundation does not award grants for exchange periods or general studies. In the past, the Foundation has awarded grants for purposes such as support for events organized for students at Hanken such as crayfish party, purchase of new dishwasher for Cella and a soundbox for the Student Union.

Your application should be in PDF format and contain information about who is applying for
grant and for what purpose. The application should clearly specify the amount requested and
how the sum would be used. You should also indicate in your application if you have received
grants from other bodies. If the application is project-based, we would like you to include a budget and project plan in the application.

The Foundation will notify each applicant separately of the award decision. Grants awarded grants are paid out after the application period. Please note that the Foundation requires reporting of the use of the grant afterwards. Send the application to sess@shs.fi no later than 3.11 at 23.59. The application period is 1.10 – 3.11.

Questions can be directed to the chairman of the foundation selma.lumio@shs.fi.

Swedish Economics Students’ Foundation
The Swedish Economics Students’ Foundation (SESS) supports Hankeit’s societal, social, intellectual and study-related ambitions. The Foundation can fulfill its purpose by supporting students during their studies, in entrepreneurship or at the beginning of their career.

In addition, the Foundation supports initiatives to organize events between students and alumni, initiatives related to students’ health and well-being, and communities and actors that promote the Foundation’s objectives. The Foundation primarily supports causes that benefit several people rather than individuals.

The Foundation also owns the so-called corps companies: Svecasa and Casa Security (IB Bookstore). SveCasa organizes the prep course closest to Hanken and from the IB bookstore you will find study-related materials and student union products for the good life! The foundation is also co-owner of Academic Business Consulting, a so-called “ABC course” at Hanken. The foundation was founded in 2015 and the board includes both expert members and
student members. The application period for the Foundation’s Board and Supervisory Board is published on SHS.fi.
