aTalent: Terveystalo – Sustainability Manager (Environmental and Climate Initiatives)

This position requires Finnish.

Type: Permanent and Full-time
Location: Jaakonkatu 3 A, Helsinki
Application deadline: Thursday 05.09.2024

Are you passionate about promoting sustainability and environmental issues, and eager to make a tangible impact on sustainable development goals? We are now looking for a Sustainability Manager to join Terveystalo’s team to lead and develop our environmental management system and advance the company’s long-term environmental and climate goals. Could this be you?

This is a new role within the organization, and you will strengthen the small Investor Relations and Sustainability team. You will be responsible for both strategic and operational tasks, leading and developing broader initiatives related to environmental and climate goals, and their implementation, involving the entire organization.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and further developing the environmental management system (ISO 14001). Collaboration with the quality team in implementing audits and action plans, as well as managing environmental issues, is also a key part of your role.
  • Long-term environmental and climate goals: You will lead projects aimed at setting and achieving sustainable development and climate work goals. You will also be responsible for monitoring these goals and regularly reporting on progress.
  • Developing a Science Based Targets roadmap that guides the company’s climate work toward a more sustainable future. You will conduct emissions calculations at a practical level and support business units in implementing the roadmap’s actions and goals.
  • Participating in sustainability and responsibility reporting: You will compile environmental data and assist in producing materials to support your colleagues.

We are looking for a Sustainability Manager who already has experience in climate and environmental responsibility roles, is skilled at managing comprehensive initiatives, and can engage the organization in sustainability work. We also value independent decision-making, strong interpersonal skills, and a desire to develop and grow in your area of responsibility.

Specifically, we expect you to have:

  • Previous experience in a similar expert role, environmental management systems, and emissions calculations and reduction planning
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, as well as an analytical approach to development work
  • A positive, proactive, and development-oriented working attitude
  • Excellent interpersonal skills—you enjoy teamwork and involving various stakeholders in projects and development work
  • Strong Excel and MS Office skills, as well as technical aptitude for mastering new systems
  • Good command of Finnish and English

Terveystalo offers you:

  • Meaningful work in a meaningful industry—this role allows you to truly strengthen sustainable business practices and advance Terveystalo’s environmental and climate goals.
  • A humane workplace where you have space for the most important things in life alongside work. We support the balance between work and free time with flexible working arrangements and remote work opportunities. Not just because it’s proven effective, but because it’s humane.
  • An organizational culture that recognizes responsibility and sustainability as central to our strategy
  • A bold, ambitious, and humane team with a shared mission
  • A wide range of employee benefits, such as lunch and recreational benefits, partner discounts, and comprehensive occupational healthcare that includes not only basic services but also referrals to specialists and short-term psychotherapy

Practical Details:

In this permanent and full-time position, you will be directly employed by our client, Terveystalo. We hope you can start as soon as possible, but the exact start date will be agreed upon with the selected candidate. At Terveystalo, we work in a hybrid model, and we expect you to be ready to work at the Helsinki headquarters 2-3 days a week.
