Continental, a pioneer and innovator of sustainable and connected mobility, is now looking for an Accountant specializing in accounts payable and receivable to join the newly organized Nordic accounting team!

As an AP/AR Accountant you will be working as part of a Nordic team of seven people, consisting of professionals from Finland, Sweden, Norway, and Denmark, and reporting to the Nordic Head of Accounting and Credit Management, Christian Hillen. In this role, you will ensure Continental’s AP and AR processes live up to high standards, primarily in Finland, while strongly supporting colleagues on a Nordic level. In more detail, your responsibilities will include: 

Accounts payable: 

• Ensuring incoming invoices from suppliers are well received, processed, and paid in time
• Reconciling and following up of supplier accounts
• Making sure internal and external regulations, incl. VAT-regulations are adhered to
• Maintaining authorization matrix together with rest of team and supervisor
• Supporting suppliers in use of EDI and other connectivity solutions
• Monthly closing activities

Accounts receivable and credit management: 

• Overseeing customer balances and making sure incoming payments are well received and cleared in time
• Reconciling and follow up on customer accounts
• Credit management coordinating, incl. aging list preparation and follow up, dunning process, credit checks, and credit limit changes
• Overseeing interim clearing accounts
• Monthly closing activities

In addition to your daily tasks, you will have a chance to explore opportunities for optimizing and automating the accounting function using available and/or new tools and approaches on a Nordic level. You will be working closely with stakeholders, such as sales, procurement, customer service, HQ, and external credit collection agencies, so this a perfect opportunity to build connections on a multinational scale.

We hope you to have:

• Relevant educational background in Finance, Accounting, Business administration or related field
• Previous experience in similar roles. We welcome candidates from various experience levels to apply
• Good understanding of accounting processes and procedures
• Great teamwork ethic and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to work in an independent role
• Solid technical skills in Office 365 and ERPs and the ability to learn new systems quickly
• Professional working proficiency in Finnish and English language, spoken and written

We consider as an asset: 

• General interest in IT and/or accounting automation and ways of improving processes (e.g. SAP, EDI) 
• Experience working with SAP

Practicalities: 

In this fulltime and permanent position you will be employed directly by Continental. The start in the role is as soon as possible. We hope you are able to work at the Espoo office on a weekly basis as part of a flexible hybrid model. We also hope you have preparedness to travel, as the Nordic team organizes gatherings a few times a year.
