The Committee of Social Affairs
The primary duty of the Committee of Social Affairs is to safeguard and advance the wellbeing of students at all levels and protect their interests both within the student union as well as externally.
At SHS, advocating well-being involves work at many different levels and by treating various aspects of well-being: mental, physical, social, sexual and financial well-being, and more. The Sopo-committee’s largest event is Wellness Week, which is held once in the spring and once in the autumn. In addition to Wellness Week, the Sopo-committee also organizes smaller events and events, such as charity talks or mindfulness exercises.
The Committee of Social Affairs’ biggest event is without a doubt the Wellness Week, that’s organized once in the spring and once during the fall. Besides the Wellness Week the Committee of Social Affairs will also organize smaller events and functions, for example the “charity talko” and mindfulness exercises. Other matters relating to social affairs that the committee would work with would include representing students’ voices within the FSHS (Finnish Student Health Service) as well as furthering our interests with UniSport.
The members of the Sopo-committee help with, among other things, arranging events, marketing, sponsorship acquisition and interest advocacy both within the student union and in collaboration with Hanken and other external stakeholders. In addition, the committee works on equality work and the prevention of harassment.
If you want to participate in this furtherance of students’ interests and wellbeing through different initiatives, please contact the member in charge of social affairs at SHS, Aliisa Lundén (aliisa.lunden@shs.fi)
