New Student
Welcome to SHS!

Congratulations on your study place, and a warm welcome to the most fun student union in all of Finland! Ahead of you are not only studies, lectures, and exams, but also community, events, new friends, and memories for life.
As a new student, you become part of an active community with everything from committees, clubs and societies to events, corporate contacts, wellbeing initiatives and student traditions. Whether you want to get highly involved, participate every now and then, or simply know where to turn when you need help, SHS is here for you.
The Student Union of Hanken School of Economics is the student union for all Hanken students. We exist to represent students’ interests, create a sense of community, and make student life safer, more fun and more meaningful.

Bachelors student
The Freshers Committee exists to welcome, introduce, and integrate new international bachelor’s students each fall. The committee, also known as FC/Freshers, consists of around ten tutors. The president is part of Gekko, and the committees work closely together to create an unforgettable Freshers Fall.
A tutor primarily has two responsibilities: (1) to be a mentor for the new students and support them with study-related matters, and (2) to introduce them to student life by acting as a bridge between the student union and the freshers.
During the fall, Freshers organize a variety of events, from the introduction days to the legendary “halarutdelning”, where the freshers receive their well-deserved white overalls.

FreshersHankeit

FreshersHankeiten is the guide for you as a new student at Hanken. There you will find important information about the start of your studies, SHS, student life, traditions, events and much more that is good to know before everyday life at Hanken begins.
Freshers Fall
Student life begins with the Freshers fall, where you get to know other new students, the Freshers Committee tutors, SHS and student life at Hanken. During the first months, a variety of activities are organized to help you become part of the community and find your place at Hanken.
The three-month-long Freshers Fall is filled with events, introductions and activities where you get the chance to meet new people, get to know Casa and the campuses, and experience SHS traditions for the first time.
This year’s programme will be published closer to the start of studies.
Masters Student
Welcome, we are SHS Masters’ Committee!
Masters’ Committee (“MC”) is a committee consisting of 23 enthusiastic master’s students who organize events for all SHS members. Our goal is to make our own and everyone else’s time at Hanken as unforgettable as possible!
MC is a fantastic mix of students from different cultures. Together, we represent different majors at Hanken, and our members come from several countries, making us a diverse and inclusive group. Our events are always held in English, but many of us also speak Swedish, Finnish, and several other international languages. We recruit new members both at the end of spring and at the end of autumn.
We organize many different types of social events – everything from sitzes, pub crawls, picnics and afterworks, to networking- and career-related events. Our events, although in particular for master’s students, are open for all SHS members, i.e. also bachelor’s and exchange students. Our events are unique in the sense that the participants tend to be more international than at the average SHS event, so if you want to discover the world without leaving Casa, MC’s events are perfect for you!
