Greetings from the President of the Union

Dear Hanken students,

Welcome back to a new school year! After a long summer, it’s great to see all the old friends again old acquaintances, but also a lot of new faces. To you new ones, I would like to extend a special welcome to the most fun student union in Finland!

Autumn is often synonymous with a fresh start. It is once again time to get to grips with routines, to rediscover the study discipline and the sense of fun to be able to juggle studies and leisure with possible jobs and other commitments. But the fall also brings opportunities to meet new people, try new things and find your place in the student union community.

For me, it is precisely community that characterizes SHS. The Student Union should be a place where everyone feel welcome, a place where you can get support and networks and a place that offers a break from the worries of everyday life. I encourage you all to try out student union activity – take part in activities, meet new people and don’t be afraid to ask questions. The more you invest in your involvement, the more you will get back. Be open to new experiences and take advantage of opportunities that come your way. Hanken provides you with one of the best educations in the Nordics, but the Student Union offers so much more: networks, experiences and friendships for life.

Above all, I urge you to take care of yourself first. Take the time to actually be a student; you are not in a hurry to become an adult! The Student Union, Hanken and Student Health Services offer all offer support services in both small and large matters, take advantage of these and take care of each other!

With these words, on behalf of the Board, I would like to wish you all a warm welcome back and extend a thank you very much for your commitment and your ideas are what make our Union strong and vibrant! See you at Casa!

With kind regards,
Sofie Eriksson
