Affect your studies in Economics

Do you have Economics as your major and want to affect your studies? Become a student representative!

We are looking for a regular student representative majoring in Economics at the Helsinki campus to the department council of Finance and Economics.

Hanken has four departments which are led by a prefect and a department council. The departments are for both campuses and the councils can be seen as a shareholder’s meeting for the departments. Matters handled by the council include the course offering, the hiring of new professors and research doctorates, the department budget and more. The union has three student representatives in every council and all of them have a personal deputy.

As a student representative, you have the opportunity to affect your studies. Furthermore, you can develop your skills in meeting technique and student advocacy, the opportunity to expand your social network within Hanken and something to put on your resume.

In exchange, you are expected to participate in one to two meetings a month, inform the other student representatives of important matters and be there for other students who might have questions and thoughts about their studies. To apply for the department councils you should be a student of that department.

The commission of trust starts when the Rector has made a decision regarding the recruitment of new student representatives and the ongoing term ends on 31.12.2021. Apply by sending an application to at the latest on Tuesday 7.9.2021 at 15. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out.

Take the chance to make a difference!
